About the Scientist

Brief Work Experience

Professional Summary

My professional experience encompasses extensive research and development in soil science, with a focus on improving soil health and crop productivity across diverse agro- climatic regions of India. I have conducted detailed studies on the effect of shifting cultivation on soil properties and farming systems in the acid soils of Meghalaya, including the management of secondary and micronutrients. At the ICAR Research Complex for the North Eastern Hill Region, Barapani, Meghalaya, I was responsible for maintaining the micronutrients laboratory and supporting research activities.

My work further includes assessing the long-term impact of pulse-based cropping systems on soil carbon, nutrient dynamics, and productivity in the Indo-Gangetic Plains of Northern India. I successfully established and maintained advanced soil science laboratories at IIPR, Kanpur, ensuring precision in analytical research. Additionally, I initiated and managed infrastructure and research programs at the IIPR Regional Research Station in Dharwad, Karnataka.

My research at Dharwad emphasized pulse-based cropping systems in vertisols, efficient phosphorus utilization in pulse genotypes, and determining critical nutrient levels in pulses. I have also guided postgraduate students in soil science at the University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad, is contributing to academic advancement and capacity building in soil fertility and sustainable agriculture.

Currently, I am engaged in maintaining a sophisticated soil science laboratory at ICAR-DCR, Puttur and also involved in research activities in horticulture crop like the effect of inter-cropping of legumes in cashew orchards, effect of different levels of potassium nutrition in jumbo varieties of cashew in the coastal Karnataka region.
